Dev log 2-Sebastian

The teams goal for the past week was to get out a digital prototype ready to play test. In my area we were able to fully make certain decision about what engine the game would run on and set on the mechanics for it. The teams goals for next week would be to work more on the game and get a level completely done. Next week I would like to get some more of the writing done and a bit more of outlining the rest of the game. Personally I helped with the outline/writing of the work.

Play testing:

We were play testing the digital prototype of the game for the first time which was a snippet of the first level of the game. We wanted to learn what we could improve on, if it felt too boring or complicated as well as if our mechanics were good. Our play testers were the class and they do represent the target audience of this game. What I observed when they were play testing was that some people were able to pick up how to play quickly while others who weren’t as familiar with visual novels didn’t completely understand the controls. Some did interact in the expected way while others did not. Some questions that were asked were if the game was too complicated, what they liked and what do they think could be improved upon? Feedback that was received:

No (visual novel experience) Depending on your play style, if you’re a conversationalist you might be fun. He likes that the wrong answers are fun. Wished there was more. Maybe more complicated and longer. Right answers were a little obvious. Buttons a bit confusing (not sure where to press). Hopefully to improve upon this we are looking to add a little tutorial as well as make the conversation a bit more complex making the right answers a bit harder to deduct.
